It's that time again!
This week (April 18-24) is TV Turn-Off Week.
Turn off the TV (AND all those video and computer games!), and find the joy in doing things that don't involve a screen. You CAN do it! It's only a week. All those shows and games will still be there at the end of the week, but, in the meantime, you will have discovered many other fun ways to spend your time.
Today our class began a list of alternatives to screen time:
- Draw.
- Play a board game.
- Start a business (lemonade stand).
- Play Pokemon.
- Play a card game.
- Use your imagination.
- Play in your backyard.
- Swim in the pool.
- Play with a pet.
- Go to the beach.
- Play outside.
- Have a play date with a friend.
- Plant things.
- Climb a tree.
- Read a book.
- Find more books at the library.
- Research.
- Do a chemistry experiment.
- Ride your bike.
- Do a Sit Spot.
- Do some yoga.
- Cook or bake . . . and then eat!
- Take a nap.
- Start a collection and make a home museum.
- Lie in the flowers and watch the clouds go by.
- Play a sport.
- Travel.
- Decorate your home for a holiday.
- Listen to music.
- Dance.
- Go for a nature hunt.
- Play at the Spark Park.
- Watch a play.

If you choose to accept this challenge and commit to a full week without TV (AND without video/computer games), enter your name in the comment section and tell us about the wonderful activities you are enjoying this week instead of watching a screen. I'll add your ideas to our growing list. (If you're turning off your screens for the week, we want to hear from you--even if you're not in our class.)
Now, as much as I love that you're reading the blog . . . I feel it is my duty to tell you to turn off this screen too and get out there and have some non-screen fun! All the blog fun will still be here when you get back at the end of the week.
