Nature Gratitude: Frog

I am so grateful that, during a sunny afternoon visit to Nelson Water Gardens, I spotted this little frog perched on a lily pad.  To read more about Texas amphibians, visit Texas Parks and Wildlife or you can visit the Hall of Paleontology at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for a look into the eye sockets of prehistoric amphibians.  Unfortunately, present-day amphibian populations are on the decline.  You can get involved and document observations by connecting with either Texas Amphibian Watch or Herps of Texas.

If you enjoy plants, the water gardens are a fun spot for the whole family to visit.  If you decide to go, I highly recommend stopping by The Cafe at Brookwood for lunch.  The Brookwood Community offers meaningful work and community for adults with disabilities.  You'll have a lovely menu of delicious food from which to choose, and your lunch supports the beautiful mission of this special place.
